The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts, which takes place annually in January and February, aims to educate and inspire through its presentation of world-class performing arts. More information is available in Festival History.
3/2 TONIGHT AT 7.15pm Students of THE BERMUDA SCHOOL OF MUSIC will be performing at City Hall as part of the Festival Impressions Exhibition. Start time 7.15pm. Catch the exhibition in the BSoA Gallery before that. The SCHUBERT ENSEMBLE OF LONDON concert follows at 8.00pm. 1/2 Friday evening The Schubert Ensemble of London will present their concert at City Hall. Don't forget to catch Festival Impressions at the BSoA before the performance. The Gallery will be open until 7.30pm and from 7.15pm students from The Bermuda School of Music will be playing a selection of music. On Saturday the Ensemble will do a workshop with local music students culminating in a joint concert at 2.30pm. Complimentary tickets for this presentation are available at the door. This morning Thembi Mtshali Jones' performed part of her performance of Mother To Mother to students from local high schools. Director Janice Honeyman, together with Thembi, led a thought-provoking discussion following the performance. 31 /1 Marlena Smalls and the Hallelujah Singers had the audience on its feet on Saturday evening and Gabriela Montero wowed the crowd with her stunning performance on Sunday afternoon. Audience members old and very young suggested songs on which she performed remarkable improvisations. Ailey II gave two fabulous performances at Ruth Seaton James Centre this week. Now we're looking forward to MARLENA SMALLS AND THE HALLELUJAH SINGERS on Friday and Saturday evenings. Tickets are still available for both performances. See below for more information. The Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra of New York arrived on-Island this afternoon despite high winds and rain. Don't miss their concert Friday evening at Fairmont Southampton. Vocal quartet BLAKE set the Fairmont Southampton alight, on Tuesday and Wednesday wowing audiences with their opening concerts. And the partying went on in the Jasmine Lounge afterwards into the early hours.
