Acoustic Swing

29 January 2009 at Daylesford Theatre at 9pm

What better way to cool out than to attend two different later-night jazz events which will feature local resident Tony Bari. In the first entitled ACOUSTIC SWING he will be joined by renowned Bermudians drummer Tootsie Bean and bassist Chalky Virgil.

TONY BARI
Tony is a gifted musician who travelled all over the world as a musical director before making Bermuda his home over 25 years ago. He is a professional pianist who works as a soloist as well as with his trio and performs a wide variety of music including music from all eras, show tunes and more.   Eminent musicians Tootsie Bean and Chalky Virgil will be joining him especially for this performance.

WE REGRET TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING, ON MONDAY, OF MR. VIRGIL. THE CONCERT WILL BE HELD IN HIS MEMORY AND, SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION, TOOTSIE AND TONY WILL BE JOINED BY RENOWNED AMERICAN BASS PLAYER DAVE JACKSON.

T,G and Friends

30 January 2009 at Daylesford Theatre at 90pm

The Tony Bari Trio, Stan Gilbert on electric bass, Ronnie Lopes on drums and Tony Bari on keyboard will be joined by local vocalist Gita Blakeney Saltus.

GITA BLAKENEY SALTUS
Gita describes her singing as “raw and stylised” and pledges an allegiance to a fusion of jazz and R&B music. Presently working at The Bermuda National Gallery, she spends her spare time performing at local venues and abroad and was the opening act for such stars as Cassandra Wilson, Chris Botti and Herbie Mann at the Bermuda Jazz Festivals. She hopes to develop her singing career further.
